What this muscle is

From the tendons of flexor digitorum profundus to the tendon sheet on the back of the fingers. Bend the knuckles and straighten the joints in the fingers.

Why it gets uncomfortable

Typing, holding a pen; the knuckles stay bent while the middle and end sections of the fingers stay straight.

How it usually feels

Ache in the middle of the palm and at the knuckles; the fingers won't straighten for a moment, and making a fist then opening eases it.

What helps

Make a fist, then open the fingers fully straight. Repeat a few times, slowly.
